FAT MEDICINE - JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!

It can be hard to figure out where all the sound is coming from when you watch Fat Medicine perform. A full rounded sound is achieved from a three piece outfit playing multiple acoustic instruments.

Skip, lead singer/ front man could keep you entertained for hours just by talking, but is a dab hand on mandolin, bouzouki and fiddle, while Doc squeezes out a melodic accordion, driving accordion bass, bass drum and vocals. Matey provides a catchy foot-stomping beat, with a mix of Veste frattoir, triangle and rhythmic percussion instruments.

Their sheer enjoyment of music comes through in their highly entertaining performances. To keep interest high they have the audience on the edge of their seats ready to dance and guessing what will come next - could it be, driving Irish traditional jigs and reels, an Eastern European waltz, a Jewish wedding dance, a Pogues cover, or many a classic song, all given the full Fat Medicine treatment?

Fat Medicine add a vibrant punch to the folk music scene being once described as ‘a lucid beacon of heartfelt musical creativity, stomped out in a wacko windmill of superb music’. A prescription to cure all ills from the Celtic specialists.
